muLinux does support DSL lines.
At least here it does*grin*
Here with a DSL line the ISP merely installs an ethernet card in ones machine and hooks it to a hub that they provide, Most linux users just replace the "cheapie" cards they provide with something 110% linux compatible.(ie: modules in default distribution)
I use jumpered ne2000's, or 3c509b's myself.
Also provided is a sheet of paper listing all relevant network settings.
