('binary' encoding is not supported, stored as-is) Er uh Slackware 7.1 uses the 2.2.xx kernel...and is a Glibc(Lib6) based version.....I'm not sure but I'm thinking there'll be problems there.
In order to avoid problems that may or may not occur,(better safe than sorry) one would be best off to find which version of Slackware used the 2.0.36 kernel and grab the netmods.tgz from that particular distribution.
My thinking in this matter arises from using an aic7xxx boot disk (2.2.16) and receiving errors while booting later due to the modules being from kernel 2.2.6............if it works fine, and if it doesn't you'll know what's going on there*grin*
