It's funny that one should mention apps that use M$ format being needed to compete or gain recognition.
Looking at my latest copy of "maximum Linux"(a magazine). there is an article stating that a company "Mainsoft"(www.mainsoft.com) is working in cooperation with micro$oft to port windows applications to Linux.*grin*
So I guess even the "commercial entity" sees the value of Linux as a whole.
